Dutchess Manor — the Fjord Trail Visitor Center

The Visitor Center on Route 9D in the Town of Fishkill, slated for completion in summer 2027 alongside the Breakneck Connector. It will be the first place the Fjord Trail properly exists.

Information

This page is a structural placeholder built from public documents

HHFT's own Dutchess Manor page is password-protected, so we could not read it. Everything below comes from public sources: the environmental review, the RFP for this website, and mapped coordinates. If HHFT already has draft content for this page, it drops straight into this structure.

Dutchess Manor sits on NYS Route 9D in the Town of Fishkill, above the river between Breakneck and The Notch. It is being converted into the Fjord Trail Visitor Center, and with the Breakneck Connector and Bridge it forms Phase 1 of the project — slated for completion in summer 2027.

It matters more than a building normally would, because it is where the abstraction ends. Until it opens, the Fjord Trail is a line on a map and a construction site. From summer 2027 it is a place you can drive to, park at, ask a question at, use a bathroom at, and walk out of onto a finished piece of trail.

What we can tell you, and what we cannot

  • Where it is: 263 NYS Route 9D, Town of Fishkill. Our coordinate for it is good to only about 150 metres — it comes from a published address rather than a verified mapped feature, and it is the one location in this whole corridor we most want confirmed.
  • When: summer 2027 is HHFT's published date.
  • The shuttle: the published plans have an accessible shuttle service beginning with this project and expanding as trail sections open. No operator has been procured.
  • What is inside: not published in any document we could obtain. We are not going to describe rooms we have not seen. When the design is fixed, this page will carry the interior details, the accessible facilities, and an honest list of what the building does not have.

Two published dates

Worth knowing if you are planning around this: the RFP for this website gives summer 2027 for both the Breakneck Connector and Dutchess Manor. The Final GEIS, prepared earlier, gives 2028 for the Connector. We show the more recent published date and we date the statement, so that when it changes you can see that it changed.
