Everything upcoming
-
Mid-week planting morning
Little Stony Point — Meet at the Little Stony Point parking area on Route 9D.
A short weekday session for volunteers who cannot make a Saturday. Shoreline planting near Little Stony Point.
-
Eco-Steward work day
Little Stony Point — Meet at the Little Stony Point parking area on Route 9D. Look for the HHFT banner. Parking there is limited and fills early on summer weekends; the walk from Cold Spring station is about a mile along the road shoulder, so arriving by train means allowing 25 minutes on foot.
Volunteer habitat work with HHFT staff along the corridor: invasive removal, planting and site care. No experience needed; tools and gloves provided.
-
Tide talk at Dockside Park
Dockside Park — Meet at the Dockside Park waterfront, about a five-minute walk from Cold Spring Metro-North station.
Forty-five minutes at the water's edge on what it means that the Hudson here is a tidal estuary — timed to low water so there is something to look at.
-
Eco-Steward work day
Little Stony Point — Meet at the Little Stony Point parking area on Route 9D. Look for the HHFT banner.
The September work day: autumn planting and invasive removal along the corridor, with HHFT staff. No experience needed.
-
Guided climb: Washburn Trail to the Cornish ruins
Little Stony Point — Meet at the Little Stony Point parking area on Route 9D. Coming from Cold Spring station, allow 25 minutes for the mile walk along the road shoulder — there is no separated footway for part of it.
Four hours and about 1,000 feet of climbing on a state-park trail where roughly 90% of the route is steeper than a 5% grade. This one is hard, and we are not going to soften that.
-
Riverside bird walk at Long Dock Park
Long Dock Park — Meet by the main park entrance at Long Dock Park, about a five-minute level walk from Beacon Metro-North station. The route from the station is paved and step-free.
A slow, level, ninety-minute walk on the Beacon waterfront during autumn migration. Step-free throughout, benches every few hundred feet, binoculars to borrow.
-
Family nature hour at Madam Brett Park
Madam Brett Park — Meet at the Madam Brett Park entrance in Beacon.
An hour of creek-side looking, listening and pond-dipping for children roughly 4 to 10, with their grown-ups. Short distances, close to the car park.
-
Public information session: the trail in 2027
Dutchess Manor (Fjord Trail Visitor Center) — 263 NYS Route 9D, Town of Fishkill. Our coordinate for this building is accurate to about 150 metres, so follow the road address rather than the map pin.
What opens first, what it will look like and what is still undecided — with time for questions. ASL interpreted, indoors, seated, step-free.
-
Autumn shoreline walk Cancelled
Long Dock Park — Would have met at the Long Dock Park entrance.
Cancelled. High winds are forecast along the exposed waterfront and there is no sheltered alternative route for this walk.
-
Trail monitor training
Dockside Park — Meet at Dockside Park, Cold Spring — a five-minute walk from Cold Spring Metro-North station.
Learn to record what a path is actually like — width, slope, surface, obstacles — and help build the accessibility data this website publishes.
-
Benefit evening for the Fjord Trail
Dutchess Manor (Fjord Trail Visitor Center) — 263 NYS Route 9D, Town of Fishkill.
An evening at Dutchess Manor in support of the capital project. Ticketed. The only paid event on the programme, and it is here so the calendar's free/paid filter has something to filter.
-
Winter river walk
Dockside Park — Meet at Dockside Park, Cold Spring.
An hour on the Cold Spring waterfront in the quietest month of the year, when the ice comes down the river and there is nobody about.

Past events
Past events keep their URLs. An event that has happened is still the answer to somebody's search, and a link that used to work should keep working.

Eco-Steward work day
Madam Brett Park — Met at the Madam Brett Park entrance in Beacon.
Completed. June's work day at Madam Brett Park: invasive removal along the creek.
