Seven and a half miles of trail are planned between Cold Spring and Beacon. In August 2026, none of the main trail is open. Here is what is.

The Fjord Trail is under construction
If you arrive today expecting a finished linear park, you will find a construction project. What you will also find is six real, walkable places along the same corridor, and a state park full of trails that the Fjord Trail is being built to connect. Start with what is open today.
What we do not run
Two disclaimers that matter more here than on most park websites, because getting them wrong will cost you a day out.
Hudson Highlands Fjord Trail, Inc. does not operate Metro-North. Train times, fares, service changes and station parking are the Metropolitan Transportation Authority's. We read their public feeds and show you what they say, with the time we fetched it. We cannot hold a train, change a timetable or refund a ticket.
HHFT does not operate Hudson Highlands State Park Preserve. The Preserve is New York State parkland, managed by the Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation. Its trails, its hours, its rules and its closures are theirs and not ours. About 2.5 miles of the future main trail, and about 6 miles of all trail components, will sit inside the Preserve — so for a lot of your visit you will be on someone else's land, under someone else's rules.

Eco-Steward work day
Little Stony Point — Meet at the Little Stony Point parking area on Route 9D. Look for the HHFT banner. Parking there is limited and fills early on summer weekends; the walk from Cold Spring station is about a mile along the road shoulder, so arriving by train means allowing 25 minutes on foot.
Volunteer habitat work with HHFT staff along the corridor: invasive removal, planting and site care. No experience needed; tools and gloves provided.

Tide talk at Dockside Park
Dockside Park — Meet at the Dockside Park waterfront, about a five-minute walk from Cold Spring Metro-North station.
Forty-five minutes at the water's edge on what it means that the Hudson here is a tidal estuary — timed to low water so there is something to look at.
