Volunteer habitat work days along the corridor run through the season. No experience needed; the work is on uneven ground and the listings say so.

HHFT's Eco-Steward programme runs volunteer work days along the corridor through the season — invasive species removal, planting, and habitat monitoring, led by staff, with tools provided.
Every listing on this site states what the ground is actually like before you sign up. Work days happen on uneven terrain away from paths, and none of them currently has a step-free route to the work area. That is stated on each event rather than left for you to discover on arrival, and where an activity is step-free, that is stated too.

Little Stony Point — Meet at the Little Stony Point parking area on Route 9D. Look for the HHFT banner. Parking there is limited and fills early on summer weekends; the walk from Cold Spring station is about a mile along the road shoulder, so arriving by train means allowing 25 minutes on foot.
